LMDG was founded by David So, a third generation jeweler, who comes from a long line of craftspeople and artisans. He is a graduate of Columbia University with a degree in engineering, as well as an alumnus of the Harvard Business School and Gemological Institute of America.

Growing up in a family whose trade involved diamonds and gems, David understood early on that the beauty of a diamond was dependent on the way it was cut. At Columbia, David's intense study of chemistry, mathematics, physics, optics and quantum mechanics greatly enhanced his understanding of the physical requirements needed to achieve an ideal brilliant diamond.

In 1988, David founded David S. Diamonds, Inc., in the heart of the Diamond District in New York City. The business grew rapidly, cultivating a worldwide following dedicated to David S. Diamonds' integrity and quality.

David's many years of experience in working with the finest diamonds has led him to conclude that the beauty of the round diamond can be improved. The Solasfera is the fruit of David's passion to provide the world with the most brilliant and beautiful diamond.
